Lord Mayor Robert Doyle is the current lord mayor of Melbourne. He was elected during 2008. He is also a Principal at a management consultant business called The Nous Group. This business been in Melbourne since 2007. He was also a Chairman of the Melbourne Health at The Royal Melbourne Hospital. He became a fellow of the Monash University during 2010. He has been a member of the parliament in Victoria for 14 years. And for four years, he was the leader of the Opposition and the Liberal Party. He was also a Shadow Minister for Health and is also the Parliamentary Secretary for Health.

John Chun Sai So

John Chun Sai So is the Lord Mayor prior to Robert Doyle. He is a Chinese-Australian who used to serve the 102nd Lord Mayor of Melbourne, Victoria, Asutralia. He is a businessman. Lord Mayors are usually elected by the councilors of the city, but John Chun Sai So was elected by the people. This means he is the first Lord Mayor elected by the people instead of the councilors. He was elected in 2001, then he was also re-elected back in 2003. He served as the Lord Mayor of Melbourne for seven and a half years making him the longest serving Lord Mayor of Melbourne. In 2008, he announced that he will mot seek the position for Lord mayor for the next election.

Peter Costigan

Before John So became Lord Mayor, he was defeated by Peter Costigan with 5 to 4 votes from the councilors back in 1999. He was a journalist and a councilor of the city of Melbourne. He grew up in one of the suburbs in Melbourne called Preston. He got his education from St. Patricks College. This means he got a Jesuit Education during his study. He took and completed his tertiary education in one of the most important schools in Melbourne, the University of Melbourne. He is also the brother of the great barrister Frank Costigan.

Ivan Deveson is the 100th Lord Mayor of Melbourne. He served from 1996 to 1999. He is also a businessman in Austalia. He was elected three times consecutively. This is the first time that a Lord Mayor is elected three times consecutive. One of his best contribution to the city is the maintenance of the debt free status if the city.
