Most Livable City

With the different kinds of crisis that the rest of the world is facing, Melbourne rises up as the official most livable city in the world. It surpassed Vancouver as the reigning most livable city in the world for almost ten years. Melbourne became got the top spot with the survey created by the Economist Intelligence Unit. Other cities in Australia that are included in the top ten most livable cities in the world are Sydney, Adelaide, and Perth. The former most livable city in the world slipped to number three with Vienna on the second spot. Vancouver lost a lot of points in the infrastructure aspect of the survey. According to the Economist Intelligence Unit survey director, Jon Copestake, more Australian cities will have opportunities to become top livable cities the natural problems of the planet.

Most Livable City Origins

The Most Livable City survey originated as a survey where companies look for information on paying hardship allowance for employees who are transferring to other cities. This survey later on evolved as a survey for the most livable city in the world. The main factors that determine the score for this survey are the political stability, the social stability, crime rates and the quality of health care in each city. The survey measures the livability of a certain city with the cultural events, natural environment, infrastructure, public transport, and education as well. Melbourne has always been included in the top ten most livable cities in the world for more than ten years already, but it only became the most livable city this year.

Reason for the Win

According to Jon Copestake, Australia has a low population density giving it a relatively low crime rate. This makes a lot of the cities in Australia to be part of the top ten most livable cities in the world. There are a many more development’s in Melbourne which placed the city on the top spot.

Lord Mayor

Lord Mayor Robert Doyle is very proud to say that for the first time they finally became the most livable city in the world. They have been waiting for this moment for almost a decade already. It is even more impressive that the strong Australian dollars is working against this win. Mr. Doyle is very happy that the people in Melbourne can finally say that their city is the most livable city in the world. The people in Melbourne are very proud that their city became the most livable city in the world.

Attractions

Some of the attractions in Melbourne that garners a lot of tourists and helped in making the city the most livable city in the world are the Yarra River, café spots with a touch of European style, restaurants, sports, Formula One Grand Prix, Rugby, football and cricket. When it comes to economics, the biggest mining company in the world is found in Melbourne. The reason why Vancouver slipped to the third place is the closure of the Malahat highway and the rioting that happened in June.
